Little Way
Cancer Support Centre

Little Way Cancer Support Centre:

a place where we support the person, not the cancer

A cancer diagnosis can mark the beginning of a long and frightening journey, not just for the person who has received the diagnosis, but also for families and friends. Our aim is to provide a safe space where you can find support, compassion, information, and a listening ear. Through this, we can help take the fear out of the word cancer and bring hope to the journey ahead at a critical time in their lives.
Our services are provided in a safe confidential space by professional and qualified therapists free of charge to those affected by cancer.

How can we help...

A Cancer diagnosis is a very long and frightening journey. It can leave people feeling anxious, isolated and helpless.

At Little Way our aim is to take the fear out of the word cancer and provide psychological and practical support in a safe and caring environment that will help people through their journey.

The services are available to people from all ages who have been affected by cancer.  The centre can be accessed without a formal referral. The centre is a safe space for anyone who engages with us and we will ensure that your privacy is maintained with all those who are engaged in the service.

Upon entering Little Way,  you will be met by one of our team members who will guide you through the services and how we can support you.  All services in the centre are available free of charge.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, living well with cancer or bereaved from cancer, we are here to provide you with support.

INFORMATION & EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

Whether you are newly diagnosed, in treatment or navigating life after cancer, our workshops aim to help you feel informed, confident and more in control of your journey.

Hi, my name is Charlotte
and this is my story:

“In April 2024 I was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer with a Fistuala which meant for me it had spread in through the pelvis and had caused a lot of damage already. My systems were very little at the time so I was totally shocked to get the news I got . Also for me it meant surgery first and I had to have a stoma which was irreversible. I was traumatised by that as well but without it I would die so I had no choice but to do it.
The treatment was so tough I was hospitalised for 6 weeks . Throughout all my treatment and surgeries I always remained positive that I would beat it and I’m happy to say I did and continue to do so.
For anyone being diagnosed with any type of cancer I do believe that being positive about it even in the darkest days really helps you . Cancer can be very lonely at least for me it was. My family and friends were amazing but it’s you that has to face it and it’s terrifying.
I found Little Ways by chance and it was the best thing that could have happened to me at a very low time. To be able to talk to people who know and understand what you are going through, who support you, have counsellors who you can talk to and treatments that can help you, this is what got me through cancer and continues to help me. Never lose hope, there is always help.”
